Abuja, Nigeria — April 26, 2023 — The Public and Private Development Centre (PPDC) through its Court Administration and Court Management (CACM) project with the support of the United States Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Office (INL), will be hosting a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) capacity building workshop in Abuja for selected key stakeholders in the Justice sector from Kaduna, Nasarawa, and Plateau states.

PPDC’s Court Administration and Court Management (CACM) project seeks to improve access to and the dispensation of justice for Nigerians, enhance citizens’ interaction with the government and law using transparency tools and strengthen states’ capacities for speedy dispensation of criminal justice.

The workshop will equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of the primary change, key results, and key indicators committed to by INL. Participants will also learn how to design and implement effective monitoring and evaluation systems, develop indicators to measure performance, collect and analyse data, and use results to improve project outcomes in their respective courts.

In addition, the workshop serves as a forum for eliciting commitments from partners, including Chief Registrars, Chief Registrar from Magistrate Courts, and IT Officers on Court Management Systems, to facilitate the retention, reporting, and maintenance of CACM interventions in their respective states post-deployment and account for changes.

Overall, the workshop is a crucial step towards enhancing the skills and knowledge of judiciary staff in case management and court administration, as well as strengthening the criminal justice system’s capacity in Nigeria.
